REALab is thrilled to announce a new stream of funding for this year’s edition. In addition to the consultancy projects presented by our partnering organisations that will be announced later in February, we are pleased to offer current doctoral researchers at the University of Manchester and the other institutions of the North West Consortium DTP the opportunity to apply for a £1000 award for a researcher-led consultancy project. The proposed project should be a collaboration between at least two PhD researchers and a non-HEI organisation based in the UK, with preference to community engagement projects and business organisations that have a strong social mission/commitment towards creating social change in their community. This is an excellent opportunity for PhD candidates to apply their research expertise to real-world needs and for their partner organisation to receive targeted research to support innovation and growth. For more information about the application process and requirements, please consult our guidelines.
The successful PhD researchers will be awarded a place on REALab’s 20-hour professional training programme, in addition to the £1000 award. The training programme will begin on 8 March 2016 and provide rigorous professional development in project management and research engagement skills over four sessions within a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment. Project delivery will run for 12 weeks (April-July 2016) and be supported by mentorship from the Manchester Enterprise Centre. For more information, please consult our guidelines (link to guideline).
To apply, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive an Expression of Interest Form. Once you and your partners have completed the form, return it via email along with recent copies of the PhD researchers’ CVs by 7 February 2016. Do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or to discuss your ideas!
