REALAB no strapline

We are excited to announce that additional funding is now available to develop and deliver REAlab Researcher-Led Projects and collaborative research projects with our 2018 cultural partners.

Over the course of the programme, you will gain expertise in research consultancy and knowledge exchange and transform research into practice by bringing your academic skills to tackle real-world challenges within the broader community beyond academia. In addition to the £1000 award for each project team, successful applicants will have access to tailored professional training in project design and consultancy skills over four sessions within a friendly, cross-disciplinary and trans-institutional environment and benefit from tailored mentoring until project completion.

The programme has been designed to boost the employability of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers willing to acquire professional skills in research consultancy, leadership and engagement and to develop close professional ties with academic colleagues and non-academic partners in the region. It will suit researchers interested in developing an academic profile attuned to knowledge exchange and research impact as well as researchers who want to develop consultancy skills to move to the industry after their PhD.

Participation into projects is open to teams (2+ members) and we invite interested individual researchers who are not already part of a team to apply as individuals and to attend the REAlab Training Course where they will have the possibility to team up with like-minded colleagues with common interests and ideas and develop a project proposal to pitch.

Application is open to current doctoral and postdoctoral researchers affiliated to/graduated from one of the institutions of the NWCDTP (University of Manchester, University of Salford, RNCM, MMU, Keele, Lancaster and University of Liverpool).

Travel bursaries for out-of-Manchester attendants are available to attend the training. More info on how to apply can found here

The closing date for applications is 5PM, 29 April 2018.
